28 June 2017

The cold bite of winter tested the keenness of starters in this evening’s run & walk.
Never the less 41 faced the starter with 8 achieving personal best times. Personal best times were recorded by Cathy West, Julianne Domeny, Patrick Wade, Andrew McPherson, Morgan Pettit, Greg Flood, Mary Anderson, and Tracey Denning.
We welcomed Allysson Jeffery (pictured with Mum Kathryn and son Travis) to her first appearance with the group.

The star of the evening was Julianne Domeny, who achieved her target of getting under 20 minutes in the 3.5 kilometres event. Julianne first run over this distance on 8 March this year with a time of 23.06.  She recently made the claim that she would run the 5 kilometres if she broke the 20-minute mark. She achieved this by running a time of 19.31.  She is role model for any young mother wanting to improve their fitness.
She along with her daughters Amber and Erin are now regulars at the event.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm.

The winter solstice attracted 43 starters in perfect conditions for the event.

We welcomed Danny White to his first run and he did a creditable time of 10.29 over the 2 kilometres distance.  He is making a comeback to athletics and it is expected that he will make rapid improvement.

Personal best times were recorded by Riley Beby, Simone Elliott, Amy White, Meg Phillips, Julianne Domeny, Susan Pettit, Tom Wells, Sandra Lunn, Julie Wilks and Mary Anderson, well done to you all.

The outstanding athlete of the first part of the year is Morgan Pettit.  His first run was back in February and he recorded a time of 28.32 over the 5 kilometres distance.
Since that time, he has reduced that time little by little to now have a best time of 23.44.
He is a regular starter in the Batemans Bay park run and he has whittled seconds off his time on a regular basis.  He is a role model for anyone wanting to achieve by putting in hard work.  He is affectionately known amongst the runners as PB MORGAN.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30 pm.

14 June 2017

Excellent weather attracted 58 people to run or walk over the 3 distances on offer. Anyone who wants to test themselves or enjoy the company and experience of the most scenic course on the coast are always welcome.

Personal best times were recorded by Selby Johnston, Finn Kay, Mia Lasscock, Amy White, Travis Dunnett, Julianne Domeny, Jessica Flood, Daniel Beby, Tom Wells, Josh Connaughton, Aaron Flood, and Morgan Pettit.

The run of the evening was by Daniel Beby, who smashed his personal best in the 5 kilometres by 12 seconds to record the second fastest time over this distance. Matt Johnsen who raced at national and international level, holds the record of 15.51 set in 2014.

Rhys Flood, who did a training run with us this evening, will be competing at state and national level this coming weekend and we wish him well in his events.

Pictured are the Connaughton family who have been coming along to the runners for the last ten years and is nice to see them all together when Josh and Paige are home.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm.

13 people contested the Broulee run today in the most adverse of conditions. Strong cold southerly winds did not stop 5 people from recording personal best times. The tough conditions brings out the best in people as most performed above expectations. Best times were recorded by Erin and her mother Julianne Domeny, KA Whyte, Tom Wells and Andrew McPherson. Given that the track was very wet and slippery their times are outstanding.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm.
